Aikin
Aikin is a self-catering house in the Lake District for up to 9 people.
-
Aikin is a large detached house set in a peaceful, secluded location in the unspoilt Newlands Valley, midway between Keswick and Buttermere. Converted from a 19th century barn, it has original roof beams in 3 of the bedrooms and a large open fireplace. This south-facing property, set in its own ½ acre grounds, commands spectacular views from all rooms across the valley with mountains all around.
-
Aikin’s spacious accommodation can cater for a large/extended family, 2 families or a group of up to 9 friends. Its open plan design allows parties to group around activities in different parts of the large living room.
-
Whether you want to “get away from it all” and enjoy the peace and beauty of the mountains and lakes, or take part in the many outdoor activities including fell-walking, mountain-biking and boating, Aikin is an excellent base. Even in wet weather there’s plenty to do for all ages, including wild-life centres, museums and galleries, country houses and gardens.

The nearby small market town of Keswick (6 miles) has a range of facilities including numerous craft, antique and outdoor clothing shops, a large supermarket (Booths), a launderette and a wide range of pubs and eating places. There is also a leisure centre with pool, a theatre and a cinema.
- Braithwaite (4 miles) has a useful village store and a campsite shop, both selling newspapers.
